What’s the Right Age to Take Your Child to the Orthodontist?

According to the Canadian and American Association of Orthodontists, it is important to take your child to an orthodontist when they reach the age of seven. This helps the orthodontist spot problems early. Here at Kids Dental Group, we encourage parents to bring their children for orthodontic examinations by this age. However, there is no fixed rule regarding this age criteria.

Some children need orthodontic services at a very young age, while others may not need any orthodontic treatment until they reach their teenage years. If you decide to bring your child to the orthodontist when they’re younger, our experienced team can start building an excellent rapport with your child. This has a positive impact on your child as they woudn’t be as wary about visiting the office next time.

Many well-established orthodontic offices also offer complimentary monitoring programs. During these scheduled visits, the orthodontist monitors the growth and development of your child’s teeth and their overall dental health. These regular checkups also help you, as a parent, make more well-informed decisions regarding your child’s dental needs.
