When Are My Child’s Teeth Supposed To Come In?

Every child is unique and grows at different rates. However, we often get asked by parents who want to know what to expect when it comes to their child’s oral development. At Kids Dental Group, we’re here to answer all of your questions and help you feel prepared.

Referring to the baby teeth eruption chart, you can see the approximate timing for the development of the teeth.

The primary (baby) teeth can usually start coming in at the age of 6 – 10 months.

Children should have their first dental exam within six months of their first tooth erupting, or by the age of one years old according to The Canadian Dental Association

Some parents may think that’s too young, but it’s in your child’s best interests to see our pediatric specialist as soon as possible. We want to check in on their smile to build healthy habits, ensure their at-home hygiene routine is working and to catch any problems early on!

By approximately 3 years old, most children have all of their baby teeth. It’s important to make sure those teeth stay clean and cavity-free.

Let us help make sure your child’s smile is off to a healthy start by visiting our pediatric dental team in Markham, Richmond Hill, or Stouffville. We welcome new patients, and of course – friends and family of existing patients too! Contact us online for an appointment to keep those little smiles healthy and on the right track to a lifetime of good health!
